Farmingville is located in Suffolk County, NY, 11 miles east of Brentwood and 50 miles east of New York City. The region was originally settled in by the Algonquian-speaking Native Americans. Early English settlers began populating the area in the mid 1600s. 37.9% of Farmingville's population is of Italian origin, 18% - Irish, 10.2% - German, 3.8% - Polish, and 2.1% - English. In recent years, Farmingville has become a focal point of controversy because of its anti-immigration sentiments.
